We launched a platform for teaching food entrepreneurship in schools

Today the food industry is going through a period of active development. Digitally-driven innovations are affecting the entire value chain – sales channels and models, customer and supplier relationships, product production and logistics. Companies today need specialists with the skills to work in the new, digital world. 

Having that agenda in mind, we have created the FoodAdvice, an educational project that teaches teens the basic fundamentals of food entrepreneurship in the format of an exciting board game. The FoodAdvice also helps develop the flexible skills needed to both live and work in a rapidly changing world. As a result of the FoodAdvice course, participants come up with new food concepts and have the opportunity to bring their food idea to life through the Mabius Business Accelerator. 

According to #1 Russian recruitment platform HeadHunter, the food production apprentice vacancy is in second place on employers’ list of the most popular jobs for young professionals, and according to RBC, over the past 10 years the proportion of those wishing to enter higher education after school has almost halved due to school leavers wanting to get a profession as early as possible.

The FoodAdvice course in public and international schools allows high school students to get acquainted with the food industry and decide on their future profession. At the moment the project has been launched at a number of international and state schools, including Cambridge International School, Heritage School, ILA Aspect British School, several public schools of Moscow, and we are also working with schools in the UK, Finland, Turkey, Hong Kong, Armenia, Belarus and Azerbaijan. In addition to all listed above we are partnering with schools for children with disabilities, including the UchimZnaem network of long-term care schools, the «Absolute» boarding school, and the «Harmony» Rural Home School for children with disabilities.

FoodAdvice game sessions are also held with adults. For example, a game recently took place with VkusVill’s product managers, Agama Group’s director of innovation and Startup Lab’s director of corporate innovation. In addition, the FoodAdvice board game is very popular among business clubs: Atlanty, EO Russia and Equium have been frequent participants in FoodAdvice game sessions.
